Relationship Coaching for Trust, Communication & Connection
Work with Dr Krishna Athal individually or as a couple to understand recurring patterns, communicate more clearly and make more deliberate choices about the relationship. Coaching can support you with trust, conflict, boundaries, intimacy, emotional understanding, transitions and rebuilding connection.
What Is Relationship Coaching?
Relationship coaching is a structured, forward-looking process that helps people understand how they relate, communicate and respond to one another, then practise healthier ways of connecting.
It can be useful for couples who want to strengthen the relationship and for individuals who want to understand their own patterns, boundaries, expectations or choices within relationships. The aim is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to make the patterns between people easier to see and change.
Dr Krishna Athal’s approach combines reflective coaching with psychology-informed and neuroscience-informed thinking, emotional intelligence, human behaviour and practical communication work. You can also read the broader explanation of what coaching is and how it works.

Individual Relationship Coaching or Couple Coaching?
You do not always need both partners in the room for relationship work to be useful. Sometimes the most productive starting point is understanding your own part in the pattern. In other situations, both partners want a structured space to work on the relationship together.
Individual Relationship Coaching
Useful when you want to understand your patterns, boundaries, choices, communication or a relationship decision even if your partner is not participating.
Couple Coaching
Useful when both partners want to examine how they communicate, repair conflict, rebuild trust, strengthen connection or navigate a shared transition.
Who Can Benefit From Relationship Coaching?
Relationship coaching can be useful before a relationship reaches breaking point. It can also help when both people still care, but the old way of relating no longer seems to work.
The topic changes, but the emotional pattern underneath it repeats and neither person feels truly heard.
The relationship functions day to day, but warmth, curiosity, affection or closeness has faded.
There has been betrayal, secrecy, disappointment or another rupture and you are trying to understand whether and how trust can be rebuilt.
Marriage, parenthood, relocation, career change or family pressure is changing the relationship and asking both of you to adapt.
Important conversations quickly turn into blame, withdrawal, defensiveness or silence.
There may be no crisis. You simply want to communicate better, deepen connection and grow more deliberately together.
How Relationship & Couple Coaching Works
The work moves from understanding the pattern to practising different responses, with attention to both personal responsibility and the relationship between you.
Explore what keeps happening, what each person experiences and what the relationship is asking you to understand.
Notice triggers, assumptions, defensiveness and withdrawal before they automatically take over the conversation.
Work on listening, expressing needs, setting boundaries, repairing conflict and having difficult conversations more constructively.
Take the work back into daily life, observe what changes and strengthen the behaviours that create more trust and connection.
The Goal Is Not to Win the Argument. It Is to Understand the Pattern.
Dr Krishna Athal does not take sides or decide which partner is the better person. The focus is on helping you understand what happens between you, what each person contributes to the pattern and what can be done differently.
Sessions may involve reflective questions, communication practice, emotional awareness, values, boundaries, perspective-taking, conflict mapping, repair conversations and practical agreements, depending on what is useful.

What Clients Say About the Coaching Experience
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to common questions before beginning relationship or couple coaching.
What is relationship coaching?
Relationship coaching is a structured, non-clinical process that helps individuals or couples understand relationship patterns, communicate more effectively, strengthen boundaries, repair conflict and make more deliberate choices about how they relate.
What is the difference between relationship coaching and couples therapy?
Relationship coaching is generally forward-looking and focused on awareness, communication, choices and practical behaviour change. Couples therapy is delivered by appropriately qualified mental-health professionals and may address clinical concerns, trauma, significant psychological distress and more complex relational difficulties. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy when therapy is needed.
Do both partners need to attend?
No. Individual relationship coaching can help you understand your own patterns, boundaries, communication and relationship decisions even when your partner is not participating. Couple coaching is appropriate when both partners want to work on the relationship together.
Can coaching help after betrayal or broken trust?
Coaching can provide a structured space to understand the rupture, communicate more clearly, examine accountability and discuss what rebuilding trust would require. It cannot guarantee reconciliation, and some situations may be better supported through couples therapy or other specialist services.
Is the coach neutral between partners?
The intention is not to take sides or decide who wins. The work focuses on the interaction between you, each person’s responsibility and the changes that could create healthier communication and connection.
How many sessions will we need?
There is no universal number. Around 10 to 12 sessions is a common coaching horizon because it gives enough time to identify recurring patterns, practise different responses and review what changes. The right duration depends on the relationship and the goals you bring.
Can relationship and couple coaching be done online?
Yes. Online sessions are available and can work well for individuals and couples who prefer the flexibility and privacy of meeting remotely.
When is relationship coaching not appropriate?
Joint coaching may not be appropriate where there is abuse, coercive control, violence, serious safety concerns, acute mental-health risk or circumstances where one partner cannot participate freely. In those situations, specialist professional support should take priority.
What does relationship coaching cost?
Relationship and couple coaching is offered through different plans depending on the depth and duration of support you want. You can review the current options on the Coaching Plans & Pricing page.
